An artist with minimal online presence and who keeps himself to himself,Commodo* is one of an increasingly rare few who make waves through the strength of their music alone. As one of the most interesting names of the UK Bass movement from the last years, his sound is constantly evolving without ever losing his signature. He builds bass-focussed beats with soul and substance that never perpetuate a formula, while moving around the Dubstep, Grime & Hip Hop range. From his early musical days, Commodo has been supported and released by Mala’s Deep Medi Musik, including collaborations with JME, Kahn and Gantz. His last Album which came out on Black Acre, shows once again that he’s one of the most restless musical personalities out there and an important part of the Dubstep related UK scene.

Dispatch Recordings founder and Metalheadz label manager Ant TC1 is one of the most respected figures in contemporary Drum and Bass. Back in 1993, at the age of 15, he already started DJing at several night clubs and pirate radio stations and his productions have been liked by the who’s who list of established labels ever since he started, including Renegade, CIA, Critical and Commercial Suicide and have featured on a mass of compilations and mix CDs. After 16 years of releasing music from artists such as Total Science, DLR, Philth, Survival and Silent Witness, Dispatch Recordings has recently celebrated it’s 100th release and has become one of the leading labels for the deep and forward thinking side of Drum and Bass music.

UK Garage legend and one of Dubstep’s true pioneers, El-B is the guy who’s on the „influence list“ of many artists such as Burial, Kode 9 or Benga. With a unique style, he was ahead of his time and always pushed the UK soundscape to the next level. He’s the man when it comes to the dark side of UK Garage, stepping Grime riddims and the spirit from the early days of Dubstep. In 1998, as a part of the mighty Groove Chronicles crew, El-B brought us some classic tunes like „Stone Cold“ and paved the way for a whole new genre. With his own label Ghost Recordings, he is keeping that spirit alive and is still pushing the boundaries of UK bass music.

Expect friendly Drum and Bass fire from DDNBC experienced DJ and label owner BRK from Marseille, as he is bringing the infamous Future Skankerz vibes from France to Leipzig. With his incredible 4 hours set at DDNBC#3 in 2016, he already became a part of the family. With the launch of his own DNB label Hyperactivity Music in 2016, and having played along some of the scene’s biggest names such as Ivy Lab or Insideinfo, BRK has already made himself a name that will not only be remembered in France.

Having grown up with Hip Hop, Peak Phine is into broken beats and bass music since 2001, while thinking across genre borders where all is built on a solid bass foundation. Hooked by UK Garage, Grime and Booty Bass from the start, he evolved with the scene over years and was highly influenced by the UK, Detroit and Chicago bass movement. By organizing regular events in Leipzig since 2004, he always tried to push the musical boundaries and was co-founder of the monthly Bass Plus event series, which ended after 10 years. As a member of the Submission Crew, he still plays different kinds of bass music, with catchy melodies, powerful basslines and solid drums.

Original soundsystem culture is one of the essential aspects about Outlook Festival. We are buzzing to announce that THE two local soundsystems from Leipzig will be joining us.
Recently finished, two local crews – Bassmæssage and Bassment Rockaz – have teamed up to create a mighty new soundsystem in Leipzig: Attic Squad Hifi, formerly known as BASSMÆSSAGE System, which will give us some heavy soundscapes for all bass-heads.
On the other hand, Leipzig’s own Plug Dub Soundsystem and Crew will bring us the well known dub vibe on their infamous speaker set, that we all love so much!

SUBMISSION + DDNBC

Submission, a crew and event series since 2012, was formed with focus on deep dubstep. Mainly intending to bring authentic and fresh sound to the people and trying to fill „gaps“ from the lack of underground dubstep music in Leipzig, the event series started to be an integral part of the local scene. By hosting regular events, Submission could welcome numerous artists such as Commodo, Kahn, Silkie, Gantz or J:Kenzo. As time was moving on and the crew was growing, new influences formed a melting pot with different kinds of bass music. Supporting almost any broken genre you can now expect everything from 80 to 160 BPM with a bass bottom end that forms the framework.

Also known as Dark Drum & Bass Convention, DDNBC is a local, label-independent platform and event series for Drum&Bass and related musical styles. Having hosted several events at Elipamanoke / XX Superkronik with artists such as Survey, Ruffhouse, Silent Witness and LXC, always including the wide variety of local Drum and Bass DJs and producers, the DDNBC aims at promoting the darker side of the genre such as Deep, Intelligent Drum and Bass, Halfstep, Dark Jungle, 160 BPM and more. With the launch of an own podcast series, it has set the path for many future projects besides the main events.
